Accessibility Statement

Mars Venus is committed to ensuring that our website and our venues are accessible to all guests, including those with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves an equal opportunity to discover, explore, and book a dining experience with us — whether at one of our four riverside and garden venues or aboard one of our three dining cruises.

Our Commitment

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

Measures We Have Taken

  • Provided meaningful alternative text for photographs of our venues and vessels.
  • Ensured reservation form fields — name, phone number, date, time, and party size — are properly labelled for screen reader compatibility.
  • Maintained sufficient colour contrast ratios throughout the site.
  • Ensured the full booking flow can be completed using a keyboard alone, without a mouse.
  • Used semantic HTML to support assistive technologies.
  • Made interactive elements clearly identifiable and focusable.
  • Written booking confirmations, deposit amounts, and cancellation terms in plain language.

Known Limitations

While we work continuously to improve accessibility, some areas of our website may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We are actively working to address these gaps. Known areas under review include:

  • The embedded map showing our venue locations, which may have limited screen reader support.
  • The photo gallery and venue lightbox, still being optimised for keyboard navigation.
  • The 15-minute countdown that holds your table during checkout, which may not give enough time for guests who need longer to complete a form. If this affects you, please book by phone instead and we will hold your table manually.
  • Third-party embedded content that is not fully within our control.

Assistive Technologies We Support

Our website has been tested with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android)
  • Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • High contrast mode (Windows and browser-level)
  • Keyboard-only navigation

Accessibility at Our Venues

We are equally committed to welcoming guests with disabilities in person. Our seven venues are very different from one another — a garden by the river, a restored villa, a wine cellar down a narrow lane, and three vessels on the water — so the facilities available differ from one to the next.

Rather than make a single promise that may not hold at every location, we ask you to tell us what you need when you book. Call our hotline at 1900 1365 or add a note to your reservation, and our team will tell you honestly what a particular venue can offer and help you choose the one that suits you best. Where we can prepare something in advance — a table with step-free access, extra space beside the table, a quieter corner, assistance at the pier, or a large-print menu — we will.

Please note about our dining cruises:

  • Boarding requires crossing a gangway between the pier and the vessel, which may move with the water and is not step-free.
  • Deck space, doorways, and onboard restrooms are narrower than at our land venues and may not accommodate a wheelchair.
  • Our crew is glad to assist with boarding where it is safe to do so. Please tell us in advance so we can have staff ready and, if needed, suggest a land venue that will serve you better.

Feedback and Assistance

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our website and our venues. If you encounter any barrier, or have difficulty accessing any content or completing a booking, please let us know:
